Akira Isogawa is one of Australia's most celebrated designers. He has achieved international recognition for his exquisite and contemporary designs. Born in Japan, Akira moved to Australia in 1986 where he studied fashion design at the Sydney Institute Technology, drawing inspiration from contemporary Japanese design.
Akira's first collection was launched in 1994 and two years later at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week where he received major attention and critical acclaim. He has shown collections at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week every year since then and since 1998 has shown collections in Paris, where he presents his Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collection.
His work has been warmly received by fashion critics, drawing favourable reviews from leading figures such as Anna Piaggi and the media including The New York Times and Vogue.
